This piece was inspired by one of my favourite Australian poets, Andrew Barton Paterson best know as Banjo Paterson. His passion for horsemanship and horse-racing is reflected in the pen-name he chose: “The Banjo” was the name of his favourite thoroughbred. Banjo’s poem “Brumby’s Run” further gave inspiration by his vivid descriptions of the life that is Wild and Free of the brumby.
